When creating a new page with Elementor you can choose whether want to create from scratch of from a template. With template, you can create a beautiful web page in minutes. Elementor itself provides lots of templates you can choose from. Be it free or paid. You can also create an Elementor template.
In general, there are two types of Elementor template: page template and section template. Page template means that the concerned template contains all elements within a page, including sections, while section template means that the concerned template contains only elements within a section.
The fact now is that many people use Elementor templates as a business opportunity. There are some websites that sell Elementor templates. Whether you want to use Elementor template for personal use or business purpose, here is how to export and import Elementor templates.
How to create and export an Elementor template
Assuming you have installed Elementor on your WordPress site, login to WordPress dashboard and click the Templates menu right below the Elementor menu and select Saved Templates.
Click the Add New button to create a new Elementor template.
Select the template type you want to create and give it a name. Click the CREATE TEMPLATE button to start creating.
Now, please create your template on the Elementor editor. Once you are done, click the up arrow icon next to PUBLISH button and select Save as Template.
Exit to dashboard by clicking the three-line button on the top-left corner and select EXIT TO DASHBOARD.
To export the template you have just created, return to the Saved Templates page (Templates -> Saved Templates) on the WordPress dashboard. Hover your mouse over the template and click the Export Template link. Your template will be exported into a JSON file.
How to import and use an Elementor template
Elementor templates are available in the JSON format so prepare the JSON file of template you want to import. To start importing, go to the Saved Templates once again and click the Import Templates button.
Select the JSON file of the template you want to import and click the Import Now button. You can also import multiple templates at once. To import multiple Elementor templates at once, you can put together the JOSN files of the templates into a ZIP file.
Once your template has been successfully imported, you can start using it. To do so, return to the Saved Templates page. Hover your mouse over the template you want to use and click the Edit with Elementor link.
Or, you can also click the folder icon on the Elementor editor.
Click the My Templates tab on the library page, hover your mouse over the template you want to use and click the Insert button.
If you are experiencing an error during importing, try to update your Elementor to the latest version. If you want to import a template that contains pro elements, make sure that you also use the pro version of Elementor.
